DESCRIPTION:This event will feature a spotlight presentation on Maryland’s Statewide Transportation Model with a particular focus on their “C” 20 Freight Model. A team led by Lisa Shemer (Deputy Director\, Office of Planning and Preliminary Engineering Maryland DOT) and Rana Shams (Division Chief\, Traffic for Travel Forecasting and Analysis Division\, Maryland DOT-SHA) will share with us their efforts in developing this model and share examples of how this model is aiding Maryland in making data-driven transportation decisions\, with particular emphasis on freight. Bridge Strikes by vehicles pose a serious safety\, mobility\, and economic challenge to the transportation system for users and operators. Taking a multi-faceted approach of the three Es: engineering\, education and enforcement\, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT)\, along with NYS agency partners\, and related stakeholders have undertaken a joint effort focused on reducing/eliminating bridge strikes by vehicles.
