Move Over Law Webinar

October 21 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm EDT

TETC is pleased to present the findings of the SCOOP Initiative Move Over Laws Across the Eastern Transportation Coalition: Assessment, Outreach, and Implementation. This report presents a comprehensive assessment of Move Over Laws across member agencies of The Eastern Transportation Coalition, including legal requirements, public outreach practices, enforcement challenges, campaign development, and member-specific implementation recommendations. The report is intended to support more consistent, accurate, and practical Move Over Law communication, enforcement support, and implementation across the TETC region and provides recommendations/next steps on how TETC can support members in the future in this critical safety area.

The findings will be presented in a webinar to be held on October 21st from 1:30pm-2:30pm. We are pleased to have this presentation by the report author, Scott Parr PhD., Professor and Interim Department Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

This report brings together five related areas of work related to Move Over Laws. First, it synthesizes existing Move Over Laws across TETC member jurisdictions. Second, it assesses public outreach and education practices among participating member agencies. Third, it evaluates enforcement practices and enforcement-related challenges. Fourth, it presents a unified public awareness campaign framework built around the regional message “Slow Down. Move Over. Stay Alert.” and the secondary human-centered theme “Everyone Gets Home.” Fifth, it provides individualized member-state implementation recommendations to help agencies communicate and implement their existing laws more accurately and effectively. Finally, the report provides recommendations on how TETC may support members with technical assistance, peer exchange, regional coordination, and updates to shared Move Over Law resources.
